Russia and Armenia's Age-Old Ties Will Withstand All Trials, Says Zakharova

Statements from the United States claiming that Armenia wishes to turn away from Russia are unfounded. The age-old ties between Russia and Armenia will withstand all trials of resilience imposed relentlessly by the West. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, to "RIA Novosti".

Regarding O’Brien’s unfounded claims that Armenia wants to turn away from Russia, Zakharova said it is another example of the Americans' geopolitical shifts and their attempts to create a "reality" necessary for Washington in the eyes of the global community, which has no correlation with actual events.

Zakharova emphasized that the long-established links between Russia and Armenia will withstand all trials they are relentlessly subjected to by the West. "Throughout history, we have extended a helping hand to our brotherly Armenian people and intend to continue doing so in the future," she stated.

According to her, the United States aims to subordinate the governance system in the South Caucasus, control the resource base, and exploit transit potential.

It is recalled that earlier, the U.S. Deputy Under Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, James O’Brien, stated that the United States is creating conditions for Armenia to distance itself further from Russia.
