Alexander Sargsyan and His Family Members Summoned to Prosecutor's Office

Alexander Sargsyan, the brother of the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, along with his family members, was summoned to the Department of Seizure of Illegally Acquired Property at the General Prosecutor's Office on August 13. This was reported by Hetq.am.

Specifically, Alexander Sargsyan, his wife Avriga Sargsyan, and their sons Narek and Hayk Sargsyan, as well as Sonya Sargsyan, who is connected to them, have been invited to the prosecutor's office. These individuals have been notified that an investigation has been conducted regarding properties belonging to Alexander Sargsyan, resulting in a summary report, based on which properties registered under family members’ names are also subject to seizure.

At this stage, the prosecutor's office has not disclosed any information regarding what properties or how much money is subject to confiscation. The reasoning is that interested parties may present evidences that could establish the legality of the property, thereby potentially removing it from the list of confiscated properties. For this reason, no information is shared until a court application is filed.

It is worth recalling that after the change of power in Armenia in 2018, Alexander Sargsyan and his sons, Hayk and Narek Sargsyan, came under the scrutiny of law enforcement. Criminal proceedings were initiated against them.
