Video: Participant in Chess Championship Pours Mercury on Opponent's Board
A girl participating in the Dagestan chess championship poured mercury onto her opponent's chessboard. According to initial theories, the girls had a conflict. This was reported by the Mash Telegram channel.
The video shows the girl approaching the second board and pouring liquid on it just 20 minutes before the start of the tournament. Experts suspect it to be mercury.
The channel reports that the girl had earlier inquired whether cameras were operational in the hall and received a negative answer, although the cameras were indeed working.
It was reported that after the start of the tournament, the girl playing at the second board felt unwell, and an ambulance was called for her. Following this, the organizers reviewed the footage, halted the tournament, and evacuated all participants to the street.
It is noted that the chess player who poured the mercury, who is the champion of the North Caucasian Federal District, was arrested on the spot. The preliminary theory suggests that she took such action to neutralize her opponent.
