US Involvement in the Assassination of Haniyeh, Claims Hamas

In an interview with RIA Novosti, Khaled al-Qadumi, a representative of Hamas movement in Iran, stated that the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas' political bureau, could not have occurred without the involvement of the United States. He called the US Israel's main accomplice.

Haniyeh was killed on July 31 in Tehran, where he was attending the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian president. Hamas had declared that both Israel and the US bear responsibility for his assassination, while Iran asserted its right to respond to this aggression.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin subsequently stated that he had nothing to say regarding the assassination of the Hamas political bureau leader and Israel's involvement in it. Official representatives of Israel also declined to comment on the events.

Earlier, Robert Wood, the Deputy US Permanent Representative to the UN, claimed, "The US is not involved in the death of the head of the Hamas political bureau."

According to al-Qadumi, "Based on existing experience, it is clear that such an event could not occur without the permission of the US. There is a contradiction between what the US says and what it does. Considering that contradiction and the 'green light' they gave to Israel, one can say that the US is the main and active accomplice in the genocide and murders in Palestine."

He attributed the rise in tensions in the Middle East to this US policy.
