Attack on Azerbaijan's Ambassador to NATO and His Wife: Two Luxury Rolex Watches Stolen
An attack occurred in Brussels against the Azerbaijani Ambassador to NATO, Jafar Husseinzade, and his wife, with the couple being robbed. This was reported by Azerbaijani media outlets, referencing the Belgian publication Sudinfo.
The incident took place on August 6, when the couple went for a morning walk along Louise Avenue. According to the publication, two assailants on a rented scooter struck the ambassador and his wife on the head with a firearm and stole two luxury Rolex watches valued at a total of 90,000 euros.
Another Belgian publication reported that the ambassador's wife suffered significant blood loss due to the severe blow. The couple was taken to the hospital for examination.
At the same time, Husseinzade recounted that they had been threatened with a weapon and were demanded to hand over their belongings. “After taking my wife’s bag and our Rolex watches, they caused us minor injuries and left,” he said, adding that the value of the watches has been exaggerated in the media.
