Opposition Forces in Yerevan City Council Prepare to Vote No Confidence in Tigran Avinyan

According to the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper, opposition factions within the Yerevan City Council are preparing to initiate discussions in September regarding a vote of no confidence for the Mayor of Yerevan.

'It is hard to predict what the outcome will be. It is important to note that the regulations of the Yerevan City Council stipulate that at least one-third of the total members of the council can submit a draft decision to vote no confidence in the mayor. The draft decision must specify the name of the council member proposed by the initiating group as the candidate for mayor, and it must be signed by all members of the initiating group.'

The draft decision to express no confidence in the mayor is submitted to the mayor as well as to the factions in the council. The factions are required to promptly inform their members about this matter,' the newspaper reports.
