Kamala Harris Officially Becomes Democratic Candidate for President
Delegates of the U.S. Democratic Party have selected Vice President Kamala Harris as the presidential candidate for the upcoming elections in November. This was reported by The Associated Press.
Following a five-day online voting period, Harris has officially become the Democratic presidential nominee, garnering nearly 4,600 votes, which constitutes 99% of the participating delegates.
Harris now needs to announce her vice presidential candidate to join her campaign. According to sources from Reuters, among the potential candidates are Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
Harris will compete for the presidency against former President Donald Trump, who is the Republican nominee. Her opportunity to become a presidential candidate arose after President Joe Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the race in July.
