At Least 5 People Killed as Storm 'Debbie' Strikes the U.S.
At least five people have died as a result of the storm 'Debbie', which hit the southeastern United States this week, reports the Associated Press on Tuesday.
It has been reported that four people were killed in Florida and one in Georgia.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Debbie has caused severe flooding. Initially, the storm was classified as a Category 1 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, which indicates wind speeds ranging from 74 to 95 mph.
Debbie has since weakened and is now categorized as a tropical storm.
Local weather services predict that Debbie will reach South Carolina by Thursday.
Due to the disaster, a state of emergency has been declared in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
