Thousands of protesters have stormed the residence of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Reports indicate that Hasina has resigned and left the country amid the unrest.

Protests erupted in the capital Dhaka and throughout the country following the announcement of a "non-cooperation movement" by the organization "Student Movement Against Discrimination" on August 4.

Thousands of demonstrators attacked the Prime Minister's residence, set vehicles on fire, and clashed with police. According to the Dhaka Tribune, protesters in the capital have also burned the memorial museum dedicated to the country's first president and resigned Prime Minister Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is Hasina's father. They have also set fire to one of the offices of Hasina's Awami League party, as well as the party president's office. Additionally, participants in the protests have vandalized the house of the country's Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan.

During the demonstrations, more than 100 people have died, including about 14 police officers, with hundreds more injured. The Bangladesh government has imposed a curfew in Dhaka and other major cities from 6:00 PM local time until further notice.
