Photo: Mistakenly Confusing Russia's and USSR's Flags During Olympic Games Broadcast

During the Paris Olympic Games, the organizers of the athletics broadcast mistakenly included the flag of Russia in their graphics. Before the competition commenced, graphic representations showcased global and Olympic records. The world record (86.74 m) was set in 1986 by Yuri Sedykh, with the flag of the USSR indicated in the accompanying chart.

The Olympic record (84.80 m) was also established in 1988 at the Seoul Games by Soviet athlete Sergey Litvinov; however, the organizers erroneously placed the flag of the Russian Federation next to his name.
