The War in Ukraine Will End Next Year, Kobakhidze Says
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, believes that the military conflict in Ukraine will conclude next year and that the restoration of Georgian-American relations will follow. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
“In any case, I think the war will end next year. After the war, it will be easier to restore relations with any administration, whether it is democratic or republican… The main factor is the end of the military conflict. Once the war is over, relations will be restored. This is the basis of our optimism,” Kobakhidze said in an interview with Imedi TV.
According to him, the renewal of Georgian-American relations is in the hands of the United States, and the Georgian side expects reciprocal actions.
Georgia's relationship with the West has deteriorated following the adoption of the “foreign agents” law in the country. The Pentagon has announced that the U.S. has postponed joint military exercises with Georgia indefinitely due to a reassessment of bilateral relations. The exercises were scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 6.
