Letter from the President of the European Council to Alen Simonyan

The President of the European Council, Roberta Metsola, expressed gratitude to Alen Simonyan and welcomed Armenia's desire to expand its relations with the EU.

"Dear Mr. Simonyan,
Thank you for your congratulatory letter regarding my election as President of the European Parliament dated July 16, 2024. It is my mandate and responsibility to continue leading this European institution.
The European Parliament acknowledges and welcomes the fact that Armenia has decisively emphasized its desire to expand its relations with the European Union and prioritize them. The new agenda for EU-Armenia cooperation, as well as the launch of dialogue on visa facilitation with Armenia, are vivid proofs of our enhanced relations.
I hope that the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia will have the opportunity to resume cooperation with the European Parliament's delegation on issues regarding relations with South Caucasus countries after its upcoming founding session when newly elected members take office. I am confident that this will provide a key platform for further development of interparliamentary cooperation,” wrote Roberta Metsola in her letter addressed to Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan.
