Massive Diversions on Telecommunications Networks Across France

Massive diversions have been carried out on the network equipment of telecommunications operators Bouygues, SFR, and Free across France. This was reported by Le Parisien.

According to the newspaper, the cables of these operators were cut on the night of July 29 in the departments of Érôme, Bouches-du-Rhône, Oise, Meuse, Drôme, and Aude. Preliminary reports indicate that 28 incidents were recorded, many of which damaged fixed-line communication.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the incidents. The diversions have not affected the conduct of the Olympic Games. The newspaper recalls that in the run-up to the events, a telecommunications relay antenna was set on fire near Toulouse. Unknown individuals left a sign reading "No to the Olympic Games," leading media to speculate that these diversions may have been carried out by opponents of the Olympic Games, possibly radical left activists.

On the opening day of the Paris Olympic Games, July 26, France's high-speed rail network was paralyzed due to "systematic sabotage." Numerous train services were delayed or canceled, affecting 800,000 passengers.

On July 29, Transportation Minister Patrice Vergriete announced that all high-speed train routes had resumed normal operations.
