Teacher Charged After Assaulting Child in Vedi Kindergarten

The teacher who allegedly assaulted a minor at the kindergarten in Vedi continues to hold the status of a defendant, although no preventative measures have yet been established against her. This was confirmed by Gor Abrahamyan, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, in response to an inquiry from Tert.am.

Previously, the Ministry of Internal Affairs had reported to Tert.am that the teacher arrested for the incident at the Vedi kindergarten had been released. “The 72-hour period for detention has expired, and there were no grounds to impose any preventive measures,” officials from the ministry stated.

Recall that on July 26, a video was published online showing a kindergarten staff member physically abusing and beating a child. The Investigative Committee announced that the teacher was charged under Article 196, Part 2, Point 3 of the Armenian Criminal Code, which pertains to causing severe physical pain or mental suffering to a minor.
