Masoud Pezeshkian Officially Declared as President of Iran

The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has officially confirmed Masoud Pezeshkian as the President of Iran. This was reported by the Mehr agency.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Iran's Minister of Interior Ahmad Vahidi presented an official report on the results of the early presidential elections, expressing gratitude to the Iranian people and heads of departments for the successful conduct of the elections. Following this, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a decree proclaiming Pezeshkian as the ninth President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

After the death of President Ebrahim Raisi due to a plane crash on May 19, early presidential elections were held in two rounds. On July 6, it was announced that former Minister of Health Pezeshkian won the second round of the Iranian presidential elections. He was nominated as a candidate from the reformist wing.

Masoud Pezeshkian is of ethnic Azerbaijani descent, born on September 29, 1954, in the city of Mahabad (West Azerbaijan Province).
