Trump Identifies Possible Cause of Assassination Attempt Against Him
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that comments from members of the Democratic Party, labeling him a "threat to democracy," may have been behind the assassination attempt on July 13. This was reported by Politico.
"We live in a sick world, but you know what can happen (an attack on Trump) when you are called a threat to democracy. I am a threat to them. They are a threat to democracy," Trump stated at a rally in South Carolina, as quoted by Politico.
According to the publication, the calls to label Trump as a "threat to democracy" began after protesters stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. These statements have become more frequent over the past year, especially after President Joe Biden decided to enter the presidential race and made this label a key message of his campaign.
