Senator Menendez Resigns

US Senator Bob Menendez has resigned following a guilty verdict for engaging in activities on behalf of the governments of Egypt and Qatar, reports Reuters. After the guilty verdict, which includes charges of bribery and acting as an agent, Menendez announced his resignation under pressure from party colleagues. In a letter reviewed by the agency, he stated that he would leave his position on August 20.

It is noteworthy that the former Vice President of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, and several individuals associated with the European Parliament are also under investigation.
