Kazakh Citizens Prohibited from Using Pension Savings for Dental Prosthetics

The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan is preparing changes to the rules governing the use of one-time payments from the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund. According to these changes, citizens will not be able to acquire prosthetics using their pension savings, but they will be allowed to spend the funds on their children's medical treatment.

The draft has been submitted for public discussion. The Ministry suggests suspending the provision that allows for the allocation of pension funds for dental services related to dental prosthetics and implants provided by medical organizations located in Kazakhstan from August 10, 2024, to February 1, 2025.

“Recipients are allowed to use their one-time pension payments for the treatment of their children,” states the draft document. In January 2021, the President of Kazakhstan signed a law allowing citizens to use part of their pension savings to improve their living conditions or pay for medical treatment.
