Trump Calls Potential Rival Kamala Harris 'Corrupt and Stupid'
Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for the U.S. presidency, has described potential Democratic candidate Kamala Harris as a "corrupt and stupid" woman. This was reported by the New York Post on July 23.
"Kamala Harris can be described in two words: corrupt and stupid. It’s a bad combination," the political figure stated in a comment to the publication, also urging Democrats to unite around Vice President James David Vann, as the leading candidate for the party in the November 5 elections.
In response, a spokesperson for Harris, Ammar Moussa, stated that "Vice President Kamala Harris has held criminals accountable throughout her career, and Donald Trump will be no exception."
Current U.S. President Joe Biden has opted not to participate in the presidential race and has endorsed Harris's nomination as the Democratic candidate. According to CNN, he made this decision after consulting with two close advisors, Mike Donilon and Steve Ricchetti. Biden also indicated that he does not plan to resign prematurely.
The notification regarding Harris's candidacy was received by the U.S. Election Commission on July 22. As reported later, on July 23, by the Associated Press, the politician has gathered sufficient delegate votes from the Democratic Party for the official confirmation as the presidential candidate.
The 60th presidential election in the U.S. is scheduled for November 5, 2024.
