Russian Rights Violated at Yerevan Airport, Says Head of Russia's Human Rights Council
The Chairman of the Human Rights Council of the Russian Federation, Valery Fadeev, has addressed the Ambassador of Armenia to Russia, Vagarshak Harutyunyan, regarding instances of discrimination against Russians at Yerevan's airport.
The council has been receiving complaints from Russian citizens who have faced violations of their rights by representatives of the Armenian airline 'FlyOne' and employees of the Zvartnots International Airport.
For instance, opera singer Svetlana Kasyan highlighted discrimination when she reportedly remained standing on an airplane with no compensation offered to her. Another incident occurred on June 3 when a group of Russians missed their flight to Moscow due to a delay. Airport representatives detained them without explanation and took them to a police station. Additionally, Russian citizens have allegedly faced numerous ethnic insults from airport security personnel.
The Russian side has requested that the relevant authorities of the Republic of Armenia take note of the reported information.
