Notable Details: The Case of a Woman's Corpse Found in Gyumri

On July 21, at 11:09 AM, a citizen called the operational management center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reporting that they had been in the Russian Federation and had not received any news from their 56-year-old sister living on Zhaparidze Street in Gyumri for an extended period. Upon returning to Armenia, the caller broke down the door of the house and discovered their sister's corpse.

According to ArmLur.am, the operational group dispatched to the address found that the body of the 56-year-old woman had been missing and was being sought by the Kumayri Police Department since February 8 due to loss of contact with relatives.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Shirak regional investigative department. Thanks to the joint operational-search measures taken by investigators of the Kumayri Police Department and the Shirak regional office, as well as officers from the Mush and Nairi divisions, a 49-year-old man from Gyumri was located and arrested on suspicion of murder at one of the houses in the village of Karashamb in Kotayk Province.

In the police department, he confessed that during a dispute over personal matters with the 56-year-old woman in late April to early May 2023, he had struck her several times in the face with his hands. The next morning, upon waking up, he found that the woman had died. He then took her mobile phones, locked the front and backyard doors with a key, and left.

The 49-year-old man from Gyumri and the compiled documents have been submitted to the Shirak regional investigative office. He has been arrested and transferred to the detention center of the Mush Division. An investigation is underway.
