Barcelona Now in Worse Financial Condition Than When Laporta Arrived, Says Jordi Terme
Businessman Jordi Terme is set to run for the presidency of FC Barcelona. The creator of the Bizum banking service is one of the registered members of the Catalan club.
“Barcelona has increased its debt and reduced its assets. Therefore, from a financial standpoint, the club is in a worse condition than it was at the time of Laporta’s arrival. Incidentally, there are many powerful construction companies in Catalonia that could have renovated the Camp Nou, so there was no need to turn to Turkey,” Terme stated.
“Good talent is leaving Barcelona, and I want them to not leave anymore, but rather to queue up to work at Barcelona. Like any company, Barcelona needs to make money. Companies need to generate revenue. Look, football clubs have a net profit margin of 1.2-1.3%. I believe it can be raised to even 5%. And this can be done without spending 700-800 million. The proof of that is Girona, whose budget is 60 million, and which scored eight goals against us this year,” he added.
It is noteworthy that the next elections for the president of the Catalan club are scheduled for 2026.
