Alen Simonyan Sends Flowers to Judge Overseeing His Son-in-Law's Case

The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, has sent flowers to the judge overseeing the criminal case against his son-in-law, which is being reviewed by a "not coincidental" judge. This was reported by the newspaper "Zhoghovurd." The judge previously worked with Simonyan and now he has sent her flowers, implying that she made a mistake when she imprisoned his daughter-in-law.

According to the data from "Zhoghovurd," the case involving former Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, television host Lusine Tovmasyan's mother-in-law, and several others has been assigned to the same judge, Meri Mosinyan, from the Anti-Corruption Court, who has had direct ties with political power.

Judge Meri Mosinyan has been employed in the National Assembly since 2019, climbing the career ladder to become the head of the Legal Support and Service Division of the National Assembly Staff. From there, she transitioned to her next position, appointed as a judge specializing in corruption-related offenses at the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia.

As a result, when Alen Simonyan's daughter-in-law was imprisoned in this case, 168.am reported that Simonyan sent flowers to the judge to "communicate" her misstep.

However, it is noted that Meri Mosinyan did not appreciate the gesture from her former superior and, according to 168.am, has approached the President of the Anti-Corruption Court, Khachik Ghazaryan, regarding Simonyan's actions, which she regards as pressure on the judge.

It should be mentioned that Vahan Kerobyan, the former Minister of Economy, has been charged in a criminal case related to "Synergy" and was detained for a long time before being recently released. The issue arises from a criminal procedure initiated against eight individuals regarding apparent abuses during a tender process for services required by the Armenian Ministry of Economy.

Specifically, several officials of the Ministry of Economy, under the direction of their superior, held meetings and phone conversations with representatives of company "S" during the tender process, discussing the conditions of the tender, including providing them with documents submitted to the commission by the rival "H" foundation, allowing the company to amend the conditions during the process such that the documents submitted by the foundation could be deemed non-compliant, thus allowing the company to be removed from the tender.

Among those accused in this criminal case was Ani Gevorgyan, Alen Simonyan's sister-in-law, who admitted to committing an offense, and on the basis of genuine remorse, the case against her and several others was terminated. However, the mother-in-law of well-known presenter Lusine Tovmasyan, the head of company "Synergy," Ashot Hovhannisyan, as well as former minister Vahan Kerobyan, are still fighting in court.
