Shootings at Nursing Home: Armed Man Kills Mother and Others in Croatia

An armed man opened fire in a nursing home in the town of Daruvar, located 130 km east of Zagreb, Croatia. According to local officials and media reports, at least five people were killed, and another five were injured.

The shooter, a man born in 1973, had previously participated in combat operations, according to Croatian journalists. The Croatian newspaper Jutarnji describes the attacker as a former police officer, as reported by AFP.

Reports indicate that he killed his mother and four others. Local number one publication states that the assailant fled the scene but was later arrested.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has called for a thorough investigation into the attack. Daruvar has a population of about 7,000 people and is known as a spa town.
