Attempted Murder in Yerevan: Shots Fired from Open Car Window
On July 20, 2024, a report was received about a 35-year-old resident of Yerevan being admitted to a medical center with "shrapnel gunshot wounds to the right thigh". The incident prompted the Investigative Committee of Armenia to initiate a criminal case under Article 44-155, Part 1 and Article 335, Part 1 of the Criminal Code.
The 35-year-old man was recognized as the victim. Due to his health condition, essential investigative actions could not yet be conducted with him.
During the preliminary investigation, it was determined that the man sustained gunshot injuries in the yard of one of the buildings on Aram Khachaturyan Street in Yerevan. The inspection of the crime scene and the victim's car, a "Honda", revealed cartridges and blood traces in the vehicle's interior. Surveillance video available at the scene has been seized and is being examined. A bullet removed from the victim's body during surgery has also been confiscated from the medical center.
Further investigation uncovered that on July 20, 2024, around 15:22, an unidentified man stopped the victim's vehicle traveling along the same section of Aram Khachaturyan Street. Approaching the front passenger side, he fired four shots at the victim from the open window.
Forensic and medical examinations have been ordered during the investigation. The inquiry is ongoing. Efforts are being made to identify, locate, and present the individual suspected of committing the crime to the prosecuting authority. The Arabkir division of the Armenian Police has been instructed to undertake operational and investigative measures aimed at clarifying significant circumstances related to the investigation.
