Windows Outage Affects Approximately 8.5 Million Devices
The global disruption in information technology linked to the operations of the cybersecurity company CrowdStrike has affected around 1% of devices running the Windows operating system, according to Microsoft. The company estimates this involves approximately 8.5 million devices.
“Although the percentage is small, the significant social and economic impacts demonstrate that CrowdStrike's cybersecurity programs are utilized by organizations delivering critical services,” Microsoft stated on its blog.
The American corporation noted that the incident was not directly related to Microsoft’s operations, as the issue stemmed from a software update. However, the corporation worked to resolve the issue since it impacted its system.
It is worth recalling that on July 19, many companies worldwide experienced serious issues due to Windows. The outage resulted in thousands of flight delays globally and caused problems in stock exchanges, banks, hospitals, and television networks.
