Video: Bridge Collapses in Russia, Traffic Completely Blocked

In the Tunkinsky District of the Republic of Buryatia, traffic on the A-333 federal highway has been completely closed. According to the Buryatia Transport Ministry, the closure is due to the collapse of a bridge over the large Zangisan River. As a result of the incident, the Okinsky District of Buryatia and parts of the Tunkinsky District have been entirely cut off from the rest of Russia.

The ministry's statement clarifies that a rock cleaning operation is planned to resolve the situation. This will involve the engagement of 20 dump trucks, excavators, and front loaders. Some of the equipment has come from the city of Siudyanka in the Irkutsk region, located about 160 kilometers from the collapsed bridge.

The Buryatia Prosecutor's Office has initiated an inspection due to the bridge collapse. The department intends to assess the maintenance condition of the highway and the bridge structure.
