Russia Should Attend Next Peace Summit on Ukraine, Scholz Says

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has expressed support for inviting Russia to the next peace conference dedicated to Ukraine. As reported by Deutsche Welle, he made this statement during a speech at a pre-election event of the Social Democratic Party of Germany in Dresden.

“There have already been many discussions on this issue, most recently in Switzerland, where many countries gathered. And I am very pleased that the President of Ukraine also wants Russia to be present at the next meeting,” said Scholz.

The German government leader assured that Berlin must and will support Ukraine in its defensive struggle against Russia. He added that at the same time, efforts must be made for peace by supporting peaceful negotiations, but not through Ukraine's capitulation.
