Attempted Murder in Yerevan Leaves One Injured
On July 9, 2024, the Armenian Police received operational information regarding shots fired near a building on Erebuni Street in Yerevan, and that an individual had been injured.
On the same day at 7:05 PM, it was reported that a 27-year-old resident of Yerevan was admitted to 'Erebuni' medical center with a diagnosis of a gunshot wound to the left shin. His condition is assessed as satisfactory.
As a result of operational-investigative measures, the identity of the person who allegedly fired the shots was identified. The suspect, a Yerevan resident born in 1998, was discovered, arrested, and taken to the Erebuni police department, where a firearm marked 'SPORTSMAN CAL .25' was found on him.
The Investigative Committee of Armenia initiated a criminal case at the Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts' investigative division under the first part of articles 44-155 and 335 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
Investigative actions revealed that on July 9, 2024, around 6:30 PM, a 25-year-old man had an argument with the 27-year-old victim during which he fired shots at him with a handgun, causing bodily harm.
During the inspection of the crime scene, two spent cartridges were found and seized from the sidewalk adjacent to the building in question.
Witnesses have been interrogated, and forensic examinations have been appointed.
Based on the gathered evidence, a motion was filed with the supervising prosecutor to initiate public prosecution against the 25-year-old, which was granted. Charges have been formally laid against him under articles 44-155 and 335 of the Criminal Code. Pre-trial detention has been imposed on the suspect.
The investigation is ongoing.
