Israel Strikes Hamas Leaders, IDF Confirms
Israeli military officials have officially announced that they have targeted leaders of the Palestinian Hamas movement in southern Gaza. According to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the airstrike was carried out in an area where senior Hamas members had been hiding among civilian residents.
“During a joint operation by the IDF and the General Security Service (Shabak), based on precise intelligence, the IDF Southern Command and Israel's Air Force struck in the vicinity where two senior representatives of Hamas were present along with several other militants amidst civilian inhabitants. The strike targeted an area surrounded by trees and buildings,” the statement said.
An IDF representative confirmed to RIA Novosti that the strike occurred in the Al-Mawasi area, where, according to verified intelligence reports, Hamas military wing commander Muhammad Deif and local brigade commander Rafi Salumun were located. However, the confirmation of their deaths has not yet been officially made.
