YouTube May Be Blocked in Russia in September
YouTube may be blocked in Russia as early as September, according to The Moscow Times, citing the publication Gazeta.ru.
“There will be some degradation in July and August, meaning that the operational conditions for YouTube will worsen in certain regions, with slowdown in some areas. The blocking will begin in September,” confirmed a source from the Russian government circles.
Meanwhile, Putin's press secretary has denied the government's plans to block the streaming service.
It is also worth noting that earlier, the Russian telecommunications company Rostelecom had warned of technical issues with Google’s equipment, which could affect the quality of YouTube’s operation in Russia.
