Urartu's Russian Players Did Not Receive Visas to Travel to Estonia; UEFA Responds
Urartu's head coach Dmitry Gunkov previously reported that several Russian players did not receive visas to travel to Estonia for the first round qualifying match of the Europa Conference League.
"We have six Russian players, two of whom were unable to participate in the game due to injury, and four did not receive visas and could not travel with the team," Gunkov's words are cited by Urartu's official website.
Among the team are Russian players Alexander Melikhov, Alexander Putsko, Oleg Polyakov, Anton Kilin, Leon Sabu, and Ivan Ignatiev.
UEFA has already reacted to the incident: "In such matters, responsibility lies with the relevant authorities, including the government of Estonia. For additional information, UEFA requests to contact the club directly," UEFA's representative is cited by Match TV.
Recall that today, July 11, in the first round qualifying match of the Europa Conference League, Urartu hosted the Estonian team Kalev and achieved an impressive 2:1 victory thanks to Edgar Movsesyan's double.
