“We must one day abandon Russian gas in order to live independently,” said Gagik Melkonyan, a member of the National Assembly from the Civil Contract faction, during an appearance on 24news.

“The USA has extended a hand to us; we need to befriend them. We must work in all directions, do everything we can to ensure military cooperation, regardless of whether someone wants to narrow it or expand it. The ‘corridor’ is interesting for the USA; they want to enter Europe through Armenia and are also interested in Central Asian countries, with which they already have agreements. They want to access the Black Sea via Armenia. The USA is working in such a way that Russia's foothold on that route is diminished,” the lawmaker stated.
