Video: ‘History of Armenia’ Subject to be Taught in Schools
The Armenian government has decided that the subject ‘History of Armenia’ will henceforth be taught under the name ‘History of Armenia’. Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan detailed that the content of the program will mainly emphasize the facts, historical events, and occurrences related to the restoration, valuation, and preservation of statehood.
“The methodological principles for interpreting these events and phenomena are changing, becoming a perspective of re-evaluating historical facts in terms of the future existence and development of the state. In particular, this way all historical events during which the state was lost can be re-evaluated, forming a more analytical and critical view among learners about possible challenges, while also reinforcing the value orientation that the state is the highest form of organization for the people and the nation, and this must be strengthened,” she stated.
Students will have the opportunity to reinterpret all those periods when the state and state system did not function. They will be able to compare and analyze the challenges faced by the Armenian people in the absence of the state.
