The Assistant Secretary of State to Visit Armenia and Georgia
The United States Assistant Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, Uzra Zeya, will travel to Tbilisi and Yerevan from July 9 to 17 to participate in discussions on democratic governance, anti-corruption efforts, and the inclusion of marginalized and vulnerable groups in the context of freedom of speech. This was announced by the State Department.
Zeya will meet with senior officials and civil society representatives to discuss strengthening the U.S.-Armenia partnership and advancing democratic achievements in the fields of the rule of law, anti-corruption, and judicial reforms.
She will also visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial to pay tribute to the victims of the 1915 genocide.
The diplomat will engage with UN and other international organizations in Armenia to support vulnerable and marginalized communities. Additionally, Uzra Zeya will visit the Haghpat Monastery to promote respect for religious freedom and cultural preservation.
