VIDEO: Ukrainian Drones Attack Factories in Volgograd Region

In the night of July 9, Ukrainian drones launched an attack on the Volgograd region. The electrical plant in the city of Frolovo and a fuel depot in the city of Donskoy Kalach came under attack, according to Governor Andrei Bocharov.

He noted that air defense forces and electronic warfare measures intercepted the drones; however, fires broke out due to falling debris. “The fire at the substation has been promptly extinguished, and power supply has not been interrupted. Emergency forces from the regional fire department and the Ministry of Emergency Situations are working at the site of the fire at the fuel depot, and there is no threat to residential properties,” Bocharov stated.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, on the night of July 9, Ukraine launched 38 drones against Russian regions. In the Rostov region, 21 drones were destroyed, and the attack resulted in the burning of two transformers at the substation in the village of Generalskoye.

As reported by regional governor Vasily Golubev, aviation, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare stations, and mobile teams for countering unmanned aerial vehicles were deployed to eliminate the drones. In the Kursk region, air defense shot down 7 fixed-wing type drones. There were no casualties or damages reported. The same situation occurred in the Voronezh region, where two drones were downed, and another two were intercepted in the Belgorod region.

Since the beginning of 2024, the Ukrainian armed forces have focused on drone strikes against Russia's fuel and energy complex. Over six months, more than 40 fuel depots and oil refining factories have been targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks. Strikes in Central and Southern Russia have been directed at almost all major oil refining facilities. Following these attacks, gasoline and diesel production in Russia dropped to a minimum by the end of 2023, while authorities have disclosed operational statistics on fuel releases.
