SpaceX Launches Turkey's First National Satellite into Orbit
American company SpaceX has successfully launched Turkey's first national communication satellite into orbit using its Falcon 9 rocket, TRT reports.
The project for the development of the Türksat 6A satellite, created entirely with Turkish national resources, officially started on December 15, 2014.
“We successfully received the first signal from our satellite at the 67th minute, as planned,” wrote Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, on social media.
The Türksat 6A will expand Turkey's satellite coverage from 3.5 billion to 5 billion people across Turkey, Europe, and South Asia.
