Major Incident at Yerevan HPP 1: Power Outages Reported in Some Areas
On July 6, a significant fire broke out at the Yerevan HPP 1 (Yerevan's first hydropower plant), resulting in power outages in certain parts of the Kentron and Arabkir administrative districts of Yerevan. This information was provided by the Electric Networks of Armenia company.
The statement mentions that the incident is quite large in scale. "As part of the measures undertaken by the company, temporary schemes for ensuring electricity supply to subscribers have been developed. Electricity is being supplied from various alternative sources, which are being periodically changed during this time. This has been made possible thanks to the extensive investment programs carried out by the Company. In other circumstances, the timelines for eliminating the consequences of a similar incident would exceed today's deadlines by several times," it noted.
Considering the significant scale of the incident, the company's 24/7 customer service hotline, operating under heavy load, is receiving numerous calls, many of which, unfortunately, cannot be answered. It is also reminded that information regarding power outages is available not only through the operator but also via an automated service, for which it is necessary to enter the subscriber card number or the phone number associated with the contract.
The company requests the understanding of its subscribers and assures that it is doing everything possible to provide a final solution to the issue as quickly as possible, to return to the main electricity supply scheme, and to cause minimal inconvenience to subscribers.
