Orban: The Next Two to Three Months Will Be Much Brutal Than We Think

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes that the defeat of Russia in Ukraine is hard to imagine, considering the ratio of forces, armaments, and technologies. He stated this in an interview with Paul Ronczheim, the deputy editor-in-chief of Bild newspaper.

Commenting on his meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Orban emphasized that “Putin has a clear idea of what will happen and how Russia will win.”

“Putin cannot lose when we look at the number of soldiers, armaments, and technologies. Defeating Russia is an idea that is difficult to imagine. The probability that Russia can really be defeated is completely beyond imagination,” the Prime Minister declared.

Orban forecasts that “the situation at the front will be worse in the coming months.” “There is a lot of weaponry, and the Russians are more determined,” he said. “I had the opportunity to speak with both the President of Ukraine and the President of Russia. And believe me, the next two to three months will be much more brutal than we think,” Orban continued.

Therefore, in his assessment, now is the right time to shift from the politics of war to peaceful politics. The Hungarian Prime Minister noted that he wants to discuss the possibility of resolving the Ukrainian conflict with five key players: Russia, Ukraine, the USA, the EU, and China. On July 8, Orban visited China. On July 5, he discussed ways to initiate negotiations for conflict resolution and peace in Ukraine with Putin in Moscow. On July 2, he visited Kyiv, where he spoke about this with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
