LUSANKRN: Explosion Occurs in Moving Vehicle, Rendering it Non-Operational – New Details
Today, on July 8, an emergency incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 13:25, operational information was received at the Central Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia regarding an explosion in a vehicle on Grigor Lusavorich Street, near the DoubleTree by Hilton Yerevan hotel complex, with reports of casualties. According to preliminary information from the scene provided by a photojournalist, the explosion originated in a Nissan vehicle, which experienced a gas leak causing a fire outbreak. Citizens managed to extinguish the flames before the arrival of fire services. The vehicle has been rendered non-operational. It has been reported that two individuals were transported to the National Center of Burns and Skin Diseases due to the explosion and fire.
Currently, patrol officers have cordoned off the area. The Central Police Department has communicated information about the incident to the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia for the Central and Norq Marash administrative districts, where an investigative group, along with forensic experts, is expected to arrive. The police and patrol service are determining the identity of the vehicle's owner, driver, and the injured individuals.
