An emergency incident occurred on an Iranian modern destroyer in the Persian Gulf, injuries reported
An accident occurred at the Bandar Abbas port in southern Iran involving the "Sahand" frigate, according to ISNA news agency. Details of the incident have not been disclosed.
Footage circulating on social media shows that the frigate has capsized, with a significant portion of it submerged underwater.
No official information regarding the injured has been released yet, but Mehr News reports that several individuals have been affected.
According to media sources, the Mouj-class frigate was located near the shore, in a repair facility. The incident was attributed to a technical malfunction and water ingress.
Iranian media reports that the "Sahand" was entirely designed and built by Iranian specialists and was commissioned into the Navy in 2018.
It is also notable that a similar incident occurred in Bandar Abbas in 2021.
