Number of casualties from Israeli strikes in Gaza exceeds 38,000

The number of casualties from Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 38,000. This was reported on July 4 by Al Jazeera, citing the enclave's Ministry of Health.

"Since October 7, the number of casualties from Israeli aggression has reached 38,000, while the injured count stands at 87,445," the publication states.

According to the ministry, in the last 24 hours, Israeli forces conducted four strikes, resulting in the deaths of 58 people, while another 179 were wounded and hospitalized.

It was reported the day before that Israel had received comments from the Palestinian Hamas movement regarding a ceasefire deal in exchange for the release of hostages through intermediaries. Subsequently, American CNN reported, citing its sources, that the parties were close to finalizing an agreement on the ceasefire. However, it was noted that there were no guarantees for the implementation of the agreement, which requires the approval of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Meanwhile, on June 14, the G7 nations called for resolving the Gaza conflict through the recognition of a Palestinian state, allowing countries to coexist with safe and recognized borders based on international law.

The situation in the Middle East had escalated last October, when the Palestinian Hamas movement launched a massive rocket attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip and infiltrated border areas in the south, taking hostages. On the same day, Tel Aviv began retaliatory strikes against targets in the enclave.
