VIDEO: Putin in Astana to Meet Aliyev and Erdogan
Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, where he will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. He will also hold several meetings, including with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming have also traveled to Astana.
The SCO summit will take place on July 3 and 4 at the Independence Palace in Astana. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, established on June 15, 2001, in Shanghai, initially included six countries: Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. In 2017, India and Pakistan joined, and in 2023, Iran followed suit. The accession process for Belarus is also expected to be completed shortly.
