‘They don’t know who hates them more’: Paris Chief Rabbi urges Jews to leave France
In light of the success of the far-right National Rally party and the far-left New Popular Front in the first round of parliamentary elections in France, both the right-wing nationalists and the far-left could pose a threat to Jews, reports the German newspaper Bild.
“It is clear today that Jews have no future in France. I advise every young person to go to Israel or a safer country. Many Jewish families would never have considered voting for the National Rally before, but recently, the left has become anti-Semitic. Jews are caught in the middle and don’t know who hates them more,” said Moshe Sebbag, the chief rabbi of the Great Synagogue of Paris, in an interview with the Jerusalem Post.
According to Sebbag, the left supports mass immigration to France. However, many migrants, especially Muslims, are not willing to become part of French society. Among these migrants, anti-Semitic sentiments are strong. It is noteworthy that the second round of the parliamentary elections will take place on July 7. According to the results of the first round, President Emmanuel Macron’s coalition is currently in third place.
