We Have Never Sent Such a Strong Team to the Olympic Games, Says Karen Giloyan

The Armenian Olympic team may be small in number, but it is a qualitatively strong team. In an interview with Armenpress, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, Karen Giloyan, expressed this opinion.

“We have never sent such a strong team to the Olympic Games. Yes, the number of participants is low, but the quality is very high. We are confidently going to win medals. Everything indicates that the athletes should perform well,” said Giloyan.

He emphasized that this conclusion is based on the achievements of Armenian athletes in international arenas over recent years. According to Karen Giloyan, at least 10 participants have medal prospects.

So far, 14 athletes have secured places for the Paris 2024 Olympics, including shooter Elmir Karapetyan, gymnasts Arthur Davtyan (vault), Vahagn Davtyan (rings), wrestlers Slava Galstyan (Greco-Roman, 67 kg), Malkhas Amoyan (Greco-Roman, 77 kg), Arthur Aleksanyan (Greco-Roman, 97 kg), Arsen Harutyunyan (freestyle, 57 kg), Vazgen Tevanian (freestyle, 65 kg), weightlifters Andranik Karapetyan (89 kg), Garik Karapetyan (102 kg), Varazdat Lalayan (+102 kg), boxer David Chaloyan (+92 kg), and swimmers Arthur Barsghayan and Varsenik Manucharyan. The name of one athlete participant is still not clear.
