Actions Are Being Monitored and Analyzed: CSTO Secretary General
The members of the CSTO do not consider strengthening the military component due to NATO's actions, although these actions are being monitored. This was stated by the CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov in an interview with the Belarusian news agency "BelTA."
According to him, the CSTO does not aim to counterbalance NATO or any other country. The focus remains on the situation in the Eastern European region.
"In principle, both the organization and its members advocate for abandoning bloc thinking, which reduces opportunities for cooperation and often significantly restricts the national sovereignty of the participants of such unions. Naturally, NATO's actions are being monitored and analyzed," Tasmagambetov said.
The CSTO Secretary General mentioned that during meetings of experts and representatives of member states’ leadership, all factors influencing the situation in the organization's area of responsibility are thoroughly discussed. This enables the organization to make and implement all necessary decisions promptly, taking into account the interests of all its members.
The strategic goal of the CSTO is to ensure collective security through the consolidation of efforts and resources based on strategic partnerships and universally recognized norms and principles of international law, he added.
