Indian Man Brutally Beaten, Genitalia Burned, Recorded Naked and Extorted for Money

On June 26, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 5:30 PM, operatives from the Ararat Division of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs received information that a foreign citizen had been brutally beaten two days prior in one of the houses on Nar-Dosi Street and was also tortured.

According to SHAMSHYAN.com, the police in Erebuni have determined that as a result of these events, the citizen was transferred to the "Yerevan" Medical Center, from where he was further transferred to the First University Hospital named after Heratsi with a diagnosis of "polytrauma." The police later identified him as 43-year-old U. Kumaran, a citizen of India.

Individuals named Tinkan and Manin had subjected him to beatings, bound his hands and feet, issued threats and insults, committed sexual assault, burned his genitalia, recorded him naked, and sent the footage to his relatives while demanding 1 lakh rupees (approximately $2,000), threatening that if the money was not sent, they would kill him. They also stole $500 from his pocket and locked him in one of the rooms of the mentioned house.

After learning about his whereabouts from a relative, individuals named Jobyn, Gorov, and Min arrived and transported him to a different location. Documentation regarding the incident has been prepared by the police of Erebuni and transferred to the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia for Erebuni and Nubarakashen administrative regions, where a criminal case has been initiated. The police of Erebuni have collected evidence supporting the particularly serious crime, including video footage.
