New Details on Murder Case Arising from Dispute Over Dog Urinating at Fountain

On March 13, 2024, at 18:58, reports were received regarding the discovery of a 60-year-old man's body on Timiryazev Street in Gyumri, showing cut and stab wounds in various parts of the body. The preliminary investigation initiated on the basis of murder features revealed the circumstances under which the man received fatal injuries, including the motive, as well as the identity of the person allegedly committing the crime, who is the victim’s 47-year-old neighbor.

The investigation established and substantiated that shortly before the incident, a dispute had occurred between the two men over the victim's dog urinating at a fountain built in the name of a relative of the 47-year-old man. During this argument, the 47-year-old man, in a preemptive manner, struck the 60-year-old neighbor in the face, which escalated into a fistfight. The two were moved to a garage, and the argument ceased due to intervention by neighbors.

However, the 47-year-old man, unable to tolerate the incident, went home, retrieved a hunting knife concealed under his coat, and returned to the victim's home around 18:30 the same day. He called the victim outside and, with direct intent to take his life, inflicted stab wounds to the vital organs of the neighbor with the hunting knife, causing fatal injuries through cut and stab wounds.

It was found that the 47-year-old man was in an intoxicated state at the time of the incident. Based on sufficient evidence collected, charges were brought against the 47-year-old man under Articles 155, 195, and 334 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. As a preventive measure, he was remanded in custody. The preliminary investigation has concluded, and the case materials have been submitted to the supervising prosecutor for approval of the indictment and subsequent court submission.
