Young Armenian Greco-Roman Wrestlers Win Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals at U17 European Championships

The Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team for U17 has won 1 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medal at the European Championships held in Novi Sad, Serbia. This was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, emphasizing that our team secured second place in the team rankings.

The only gold medal for Armenia was won by Marat Ajemyan in the 45 kg weight category, who triumphed over Russian Aslanbek Kostoey in the finals with a score of 10:0. In the semifinals, Ajemyan secured an early victory over Azerbaijani Nijat Isgandarli with a score of 8:0.

Other Armenian representatives, Yurik Mkhitaryan (51 kg), Aleks Margaryan (60 kg), and Seyran Kirakosyan (110 kg), earned silver medals, while Narek Grigoryan (65 kg) took home a bronze medal.

The U17 European Championships will continue until June 30. Following the Greco-Roman events, the mats will be made available for free-style wrestlers. The Armenian free-style wrestling team for the U17 European Championship will compete with the following lineup: Artak Aghabekyan (45 kg), Armen Papikyan (48 kg), Ashot Gyulnazaryan (51 kg), Gagik Ghazaryan (55 kg), David Davtyan (60 kg), Yeghishe Melikyan (65 kg), Narek Hovhannisyan (71 kg), Sahak Hovhannisyan (80 kg), Narek Ilkikyan (92 kg), and Andranik Jaghityan (110 kg).
