Armenia Expects Actions from Turkey: Armen Grigoryan
The processes between Armenia-Azerbaijan and Armenia-Turkey are viewed by Armenia as separate and different directions. This was stated by the Secretary of Armenia's Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, during the "Building the Future" session of the "APRIL Forum 2024," addressing the opinion that Turkey will not normalize relations with Armenia until Armenia and Azerbaijan reach an agreement.
"We see the two processes as distinct pathways. There are Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and Armenia-Turkey relations. We are working differently in these areas. Yes, there can be some interconnection. But our approach is as follows: if there are two complex equations to solve and you connect those complex equations, the solution will be more difficult. Thus, they need to be separated. Our understanding and approach is that we have two different directions," said Grigoryan.
The Secretary of the Security Council noted that Armenia expects the agreements reached regarding the opening of the land border for those holding diplomatic passports and citizens of third countries to be implemented. He emphasized that Armenia is waiting for actions from Turkey to move forward. According to the Security Council Secretary, there is no set timeline for this process.
